Learn to make a simple and delicious Galette, or flat round crusty tart, with caramelized apples. The workshop will be hands-on, and everyone will have an opportunity to roll out dough, shape and bake their own Galette, which you can take home to enjoy. While your creations are in the oven, we will have the chance to sit down and enjoy a galette pre-made by the chef. The Galette is a classic and versatile dessert into which you can substitute a variety of fruits according to the season. All ingredients, materials, and written instruction will be provided. Please bring an apron and wear comfortable shoes. The fee is $50 per person.
Instructor: Toshiko Ueda
Toshiko is a graduate of the Tante Marie Cooking School and the Ecole Ritz Escoffier in Paris, where she earned the Diploma of the Art of French Pastry and Master of French Pastry. She has apprenticed in noteworthy kitchens such as the Hotel Ritz Paris, Masse’s Pastries in Berkeley, and MC Square restaurant in San Francisco. She continues to share her training and enthusiasm with home bakers since the opening of her baking workshop, atelier b. in 2004. www.binkoueda.com
