We were fortunate again to hold the SUWC Spring Tea at the home and garden of Sunny Scott last May. Sunny is an artist, photographer and local history enthusiast, with a flair for entertaining. Her celebrated garden was designed by Thomas Church, renowned for introducing Modernist architecture and art movements into landscape design. Church preferred multiple view posts instead of a traditional single axis. He said, “A garden should have no beginning and no end, and should be pleasing when seen from any angle, not only from the house.” We came together in this unique setting to share friendship, tea, music, and to indulge our senses for an afternoon we will remember.
Summers seem to fly by as the years pass and it’s time for the renewal of SUWC activities as we begin our 123rd year. The mission of SUWC is to promote friendship and welcome newcomers as well as provide activities for sharing mutual interests.
Our focus this year is on building personal relationships with members new and old. We encourage everyone to invite their neighbors who are not members yet to join us at our first event, the annual Autumn Brunch. Or invite a new member or member-to-be to coffee or to one of our 17 sections you think they would enjoy.
Our Program Committee has come up with some wonderful programs including talks and tours. So, be sure to complete the enclosed membership form and include your dues.
We look forward to sharing a great year with you!
